An Easy Way To Search for Houses for Sale in Blue Mountain or Collingwood
It’s no secret that today, the vast majority of people who are considering buying a home, start their search online. In 2010, the National Association of Realtors® said the number was about 84% and I would hazard a guess that today the figure is likely at least 10% higher. In other words, just about everyone.
I find it really interesting to learn how people do their “thinking” online. I suspect most people start by looking for listings of properties for sale either through a real estate brokerage or privately. Millions of people each year search through our national Multiple Listing site (MLS®) at www.realtor.ca and others through individual sites or whatever they may hit on Google.
When building my website, I added a search button on it that would take people straight to our local area MLS® listings directly through something called IDX – or, Internet Data Exchange. As a result of brokers each giving consent to display one another’s listings on each other’s websites, IDX allows web searchers quick and easy access to the listings.
When IDX first came into being, I really wasn’t sure how well it would be used with so many people just visiting the realtor.ca site directly. As it turns out, I’ve been very surprised to learn that there were about 376,000 hits linking to that button just on my website alone over the last year. My red button links directly to a feed for listings in Collingwood, Blue Mountain, Wasaga Beach, Meaford and the surrounding areas that make up our real estate association boundaries.
If you are searching for properties for sale in the south Georgian Bay area, then try out my big red button and let me know what you think. Just click on the picture to try. Just click on the picture to try it out and then look at the options under properties on the left side bar.
