Airbnb Not Permitted in Collingwood
No matter how often I post about this topic, people insist I must be wrong. While so many communities in Ontario allow rentals of any duration, Collingwood does not. They are not permitted in ANY residential zone. That is a hard line and no bylaws are in place because they are simply not allowed. Here is an ad that the Town recently placed in the local paper:
In the Town of Blue Mountains, STA’s are permitted in a very limited number of areas under a strict set of rules. You can find them here.
The trend in Ontario seems to be that municipalities are starting to curb short-term rental uses. Toronto developed new rules earlier this year and other cities, such as Prince Edward County are working on them now as this article explains.
If you are looking at ways to create wealth through real estate investment, you are a wise one indeed. Consider looking at other strategies such as annual or seasonal rental properties for a better return and more stable future. Type “investment” into the search box on this blog and you’ll find lots of information on the topic.
P.S. Short term rentals are permitted in commercial zones where hotels are a permitted use.
