Helping Seniors Live at Home Longer in South Georgian Bay
South Georgian Bay has a goal to become the healthiest communities in Canada. The first project toward meeting this dream has now commenced and it is called, “Home For Life.” This program has an objective aimed at assisting seniors to be able to stay at home longer.
I often tout the advantages of living in a smaller community; each person really can make a difference and impact the quality of life in the community. Home for life is a prime example of that. It was born of a citizen committee and what follows is a video that reviews the collaborative process and outcome. It’s fairly long at just over 8 minutes but worth it – even yours truly has a few words near the end.
The Home for Life program is free. Volunteers conduct home visits and assist seniors in accessing the services they need in order to be able to live at home safely and comfortably. They also offer support in senior fitness and in using technology. If you or someone you know could benefit from the Home for Life Program, contact the program through Community Connection by dialing 211.
