Our Collingwood Hospital Has Mastered Efficiency
If you are moving to the Collingwood area, chances are you’ve wondered about health care and in particular, our local hospital. I had a recent experience that may serve to shed some light on this topic.
After seeing my excellent family doctor, I was given to requisitions for two different x-ray type procedures to take place at the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital. One didn’t require an appointment (show up anytime during business hours) and the other needed a booking. A day later, I got a call telling me I had an appointment two weeks later – a good and speedy start so I decided to do both on the same day. My appointment was scheduled for 8:30 am and here is how it unfolded:
7:45: Parked my car and grabbed my ticket
7:55: Was quickly checked in through central booking; no wait
8:00: checked in with the x-ray department and handed in my two requisitions
8:05: called in by a volunteer and after changing, was immediately taken for my first x-ray; no waiting
8:15: taken by a volunteer to another department for 2nd procedure; no waiting
8:30: called in for my second procedure which took 10 minutes
8:45: changed my clothes, took a quick browse in the great little gift shop
9:00: Paid my parking fee in the onsite machine: $3.00
9:05: headed back to work
6:00 pm: got email results from my doctor the SAME DAY!
I don’t know how you could get much more efficient than that. Between the systems, the staff, the volunteers and doctors, things have been so well streamlined, that it couldn’t possibly be better. Kudos to the team at General and Marine Hospital!
