Collingwood is transformed into Memphis North this week-end as Elvii’s from around the world, together with thousand s of fans descend upon our fair town for the 17th Annual, Collingwood Elvis Festival.  It is the largest festival of its kind in the world and attracts more than 120 tribute artists.

One of the notable stories this year is the appearance of Edison Pena whose name you may recognize as being on of the 33 Chilean miners trapped underground last summer.  During those 69 days, Pena sang Elvis songs to keep up his spirits and those of his fellow miners.

According to the official media release, Pena is travelling to Canada for the very first time.  The many Elvis Tribute Artists are looking forward to assisting Edison towards his dream of honouring the memory of Elvis by singing his music as a Tribute Artist.

The Festival starts today and runs through to  Sunday, July 24th and features concerts starring the industry’s best Elvis tribute artists, a three-day competition with professional, non-professional, and youth categories, a street party, venue tour, vendor alley, parade, and family focused carnival. There’s something for every age group and for every budget with free events and ticketed shows ranging from $6 – $70.
