Climate Change and Saving Money

The Green Ontario Fund is a not-for-profit provincial agency that has been tasked with the reduction of greenhouse gas pollution, in both buildings and industry in Ontario.  The goal is to help meet emission reduction targets in Collingwood, The Blue Mountains, Clearview, Wasaga Beach, Meaford, Grey Highlands, and the rest of Ontario.  This is accomplished through programs that not only reduce energy use but also help Ontario residents save money through rebates.

Highlights of these GreenON Rebate programs are below, which apply to Ontario residents living in a detached home, townhome or semi. You must use a participating contractor, which are easily found on the website links below.

Insulation and Windows

By adding energy-efficient windows and insulation to your home, you’ll reduce the amount of time that your furnace has to run.  Rebates of up to $5,000 off of certain high-performance windows and up to $7,200 off of insulation are available. If you are a tenant, you must have your landlord’s permission. Click here for more details and see if you can start saving today!

Air-Source Heat Pumps

Is it time to replace or install a new heating system in your home?  Receive up to $5,800 to install or replace an air-source heat pump. Air-source heat pumps are more efficient than ever, making it easy to find a model that’s just right for your home.  You can also receive a smart thermostat with installation and in-home energy review for free, as you tackle climate change right from your front door.  If you are a landlord, you must obtain permission from your tenants. Click here for more details on this rebate program.

Ground-Source Heat Pumps

Additionally, Ground-Source Heat Pumps have a rebate program by GreenON as well.  You can get up to $20,000 in rebates to install a home geothermal system.  In addition to the other criteria around qualifying homes, the rebate is also available to homeowners of new custom home builds. If you are a landlord, you must obtain permission from your tenants.  Click here to see more details on this program.
