The Town of Collingwood will be holding a municipal election on October 22, 2018. As local residents and concerned citizens who care about the welfare of our community, my husband and I decided to create a list of  questions concerning some of the issues we felt we should be addressed by candidates running for positions.  The following questions were posed to each of the candidates running for mayor, deputy mayor and councillor.  The purpose of these questions was to get to know each of the candidates a bit better as well as to gain an understanding concerning their vision for the town, and in so doing, what their position would be on issues that may impact upon Collingwood directly and/or indirectly.

Each of the responses received was cut and pasted EXACTLY as written into the spreadsheet directly under each of the questions asked.  A few candidates are yet to respond, while others have indicated that they will be but were not able to meet our imposed deadline.  Should we receive additional responses we will be sure to update this spreadsheet.

We have taken a completely neutral position in providing this information to you.  However, we have devised an optional scoring system (see left-hand corner of spreadsheet) that may help in selecting your preferred choice for each of the positions up for election; mayor, deputy mayor and seven councillors.  In theory those candidates with the highest totals would be your preferred choices. As choosing elected officials should not be a popularity vote, we hope this information will assist you, the voting public, in making decisions that best match your own beliefs and core values.
